Please join us for tasty food, fresh fruit muddled cocktails and a breathtaking view at The Deck on Laguna Beach Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. to help send two Kenyans through college. My best friend Mona Shah-Anderson of Moxxe PR and I will guest bartend at the only open beachside eatery suspended over the sand in Laguna Beach for Educating Jack & Milly.
The Deck will donate 10% of sales to their education. So please sip on Mona's Laguna Mojito, Greer's Guavo Mango Margarita, or a Blueberry Lemondrop with fresh blueberries, Stoli Blueberi vodka and lemon. You’ll also want to order some rich and savory lobster quesadillas, fried calamari with marinara or jalapeno sauces; or the ahi and crab stack with mango coulis and wasabi aioli.
We also recommend the juicy Deck burger or salmon with tempura seabeans and Hoisin sauce. A live acoustic set will be playing from 5 to 8 p.m. Not only will you be able to enjoy some fabulous cocktails, a spectacular view and an evening with friends, you will be helping to improve the lives of two Kenyans that I met in a village in Western Kenya. Thank you in advance from Jack, Milly, Mona and me.
The Deck on Laguna is at 627 Sleepy Hollow Lane in Laguna Beach. 949.494.6700.
Taim Style
The newest addition to the boutique scene in Laguna Beach is Taim, a place for timeless pieces that owner Kendra Pearce wants you to keep forever. After 16 years of working in fashion, Pearce just opened a shop to help make women feel beautiful by discovering their personal style. Pearce says, the name Taim, or “I am” in Irish goes back to the concept of self-worth; her goal is to bring confidence through fashion.
The target client is a woman ages 30 to 65 wanting more than just passing trends. Lines carries include Patterson J. Kincaid, Gorjana, Stacia, Mavi Jeans, Fresh Laundry, Royal Apothic, and shoes and apparel from Dolce Vita. Prices range from $20 bracelets and scarves, to $100 jeans, and $250 blazers and dresses. Taim will celebrate its grand opening during Laguna Beach Art Walk on Thursday, Oct. 4. with Rewrite Beautiful, a local non-profit, and a local jewelry designer.
Open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday; and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. Taim Boutique is at 1259 S. Coast Highway in Laguna Beach. 949.715.4200.
Soles for Souls
With the devastation that Hurricane Isaac caused along the Gulf Coast, forcing many to abandon their homes immediately, Soles 4 Soles is stepping forward to offer relief. The charity collects shoes and works with local agencies to bring shoes to those who need it most. You can help support their efforts by donating gently worn shoes to Sole Comfort at Corona del Mar Plaza in Newport Beach.
Throughout the year, Sole Comfort regularly collects footwear for Soles 4 Souls. And, if you bring in a pair, you’ll receive a $10 gift card off their selection of shoes, sandals, boots, handbags and accessories.
Open 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday; 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday; 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.
Sole Comfort is in Corona del Mar Plaza, at MacArthur Blvd. and Pacific Coast
